About Us
A 150-YEAR STORY OF FAITH
For a century and a half, First Covenant Church of Moline has been a place where people meet Jesus, grow together, and join God’s work in the Quad Cities and beyond. Founded by Swedish immigrants in 1876, we’ve welcomed generation after generation with the same invitation: come as you are, discover the hope of the gospel, and live it out in community.
Whether you’re exploring faith or looking for a church family, we’d love to welcome you this Sunday!
What to Expect on a Sunday
Worship at 10 AM
In person and on Facebook Live—blending classic hymns, contemporary songs, thoughtful liturgy, and a practical, hope-filled message.
Come-As-You-Are
Whether you prefer jeans, dresses, or business casual, you’ll fit right in; we care far more about hearts than wardrobes.
Family-Friendly Spaces
Our nursery has been freshly updated to be a safe, cozy, and welcoming space for little ones and their grown-ups. Parents and caregivers are welcome to use the room as needed for children 5 and below during the service. There’s a live audio feed so you can still hear what's happening in worship. We hope this space helps you and your family feel at home!
For our elementary age students, worship bags are provided to borrow during the service to help kids connect and learn about Jesus.
Communion
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of every month, inviting all who follow Christ to share in this grace-filled meal.
Coffee & Conversation
After the benediction, head to the Fellowship Hall for complimentary coffee, treats, and unhurried time to meet new friends or catch up with old ones.
Accessible Entry & Parking
Reserved accessible parking spaces are located on the north side of the building. Our facility offers step-free entry and a fully accessible restroom for your convenience.
Hearing Assistance
Wireless listening devices are available from any usher so that you won’t miss a word of the service.
Beyond Sunday
Authentic Community
Throughout the week, we gather in small groups, Bible studies, and service teams where names are learned, stories are shared, and faith is strengthened through genuine friendship.
Local & Global Mission
From supporting our neighborhood schools to stocking food pantries and supporting Evangelical Covenant Church global partners overseas, we roll up our sleeves to share Christ’s love both across the street and around the world.
Next-Generation Discipleship
Kids and students enjoy age-appropriate worship, teaching, and service projects in safe, engaging environments that help them discover their gifts and follow Jesus with confidence.
Beliefs
Our faith is guided by six core affirmations that keep us centered on Jesus, anchored in Scripture, dependent on the Holy Spirit, and engaged in God’s mission.
We Affirm the Centrality of the Word of God
The Covenant Church states its view of Scripture as follows: “the Holy Scripture, the Old and the New Testament, is the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct.”
We Affirm the Necessity of the New Birth
When the Covenant Church affirms that it is evangelical, it proclaims that the new birth in Jesus Christ is essential. We teach that “by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God conquered sin, death, and the devil, offering forgiveness for sin and assuring eternal life for those who follow Christ.” New birth is more than the experience of forgiveness and acceptance. It is regeneration and the gift of eternal life. This life has the qualities of love and righteousness as well as joy and peace.
We Affirm a Commitment to the Whole Mission of the Church
The Covenant Church has always been characterized by its involvement in mission. The earliest name attributed to Covenanters was “Mission Friends,” people who covenanted together for the purpose of common mission both far and near.
We Affirm the Church as a Fellowship of Believers
The Church is a communion or fellowship of believers, characterized by mutual participation in and sharing of the new life in Christ.
We Affirm a Conscious Dependence on the Holy Spirit
The Covenant Church, rooted in historic Christianity, affirms one God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit continues the creative work of the Father and the redeeming work of the Son within the life of the church. It is for this reason the Covenant Church has emphasized the continuing work of the Spirit.
We Affirm the Reality of Freedom in Christ
The Covenant Church seeks to focus on what unites followers of Jesus Christ rather than what separates them.
